This program will be an overview of the basics of law and ethics for psychotherapists and an update of recent changes in California statutes and regulations as they relate to a mental health practice. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the legal frame-work and standards affecting the therapist–client relationship and will receive handouts that will deepen their understanding of the practices and boundaries that must be maintained under the law.
Instructor Will Rogers J.D.:
- Handled cases involving clients with extreme mental health problems, severe drug and alcohol abuse, issues involving actual and threatened violence, and sexual abuse
- Consultant to psychologists, marriage, family therapists and religious and spiritual leaders with regard to delicate and difficult legal and ethical issues
- Board member of International Institute for Humanistic Studies
Accreditation:
This course meets Law and Ethics Course requirement for state of California and is accredited for 6 CEUs for California M.F.T. , L.C.S.W. (#PCE2560). Approval for 6 CEUs for California psychologists pending (#INT031). Inclusive of nurses, 6 approved CEs (#14706).
